Course Description:
We all remember the agonizing pain of sitting through anatomy lectures in dental school trying to memorize all those Latin names only to pass an exam! How much of that knowledge did we retain? It is important for dentists and their dental team to have useful knowledge of head and neck anatomy. This knowledge is important for identifying abnormalities, improving the diagnostic process, formulating the proper treatment plan for the patient and in communicating with other healthcare professionals. It is also helpful in ergonomics for the dental team and may help prevent some of the disabilities that are a result of our profession.
By the conclusion of this course, participants will learn the following:
- An in-depth knowledge of head and neck anatomy.
- Skeletal-muscular terminology.
- Focus on neuro-muscular structures and their relation to dental procedures.
- Common anatomical variations.
- Learn to identify variants in neuro-vascular structures and the maxillary sinus.
- How to implement this knowledge when diagnosing and treating patients.
- Learn how to avoid damage to vital structures during dental surgery.
- Predict common mishaps before attempting dental surgery.

About the Speaker:
Beeren Gajjar, DDS

Dr. Beeren Gajjar has been a Gross Anatomy lecturer for over 2 decades. Prior to attending dental school Dr. Gajjar has held several faculty position for various graduate programs. His vast knowledge in anatomy and dentistry has allowed him to create this unique lecture Dr. Gajjar is a graduate of NYU College of Dentistry. He completed a general practice residency at Long Island Collage Hospital. Outside of private practice, Dr. Gajjar currently holds a clinical faculty position at NYU Langone/ Lutheran Medical Center. He has been involved in resident education for over 12 years, where he routinely gives residents lectures and training residents in full mouth rehabilitation. He also completed a surgical training program at the MISH International Implant Institute and is a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists.
